Our Mission
The mission of Metal Mountain is to work together to build efficient and innovative robots while remembering that FRC is so much more than robots. We aim to generate an excitement about STEM in our community and inspire other young people to become involved in robotics programs.
We believe that as digital natives, today’s youth are prepared to lead the world into the next stages of innovative technology. In addition to technology knowledge and skills, we believe that human connection and interaction are vital to developing leaders who are well-rounded and feel empowered to make a difference in the world. We believe that robotics programs such as FRC provide students with real-world practice and experiences that promote these essential skills. We believe that these programs should be inclusive and accessible to all students.

The Dancing Bears
In August of 2019, we started Georgia's first FIRST LEGO League team that is made up entirely of students with intellectual disabilities. We've continued to mentor them ever since and have inspired others to start similar teams.

FIRST LEGO League
Since many of us are FLL alum, we understand how impactful the program is. In addition to The Dancing Bears, we have mentored and helped FLL teams in our cluster middle school and elementary schools. We also volunteer at at least one competition every year. We hosted our first competition in 2021 and are excited to do it again in the future.
Digital Rube Goldberg Contest
In the fall of 2020, our community still faced a lot of uncertainty due to COVID. Since so many students in out community chose to remain digital, we knew an in-person event could cause some to feel uncomfortable, we decided to move our outreach programs to a digital format. We planned and hosted a digital Rube Goldberg contest using Minecraft.
Bears Night to Shine Prom
We hosted our school’s first ever sensory-friendly, inclusive Prom last weekend.
STEAM Night
We implemented the first cluster-wide STEAM night in 2019 and look forward to hosting a similar event in 2022! We had robotics demonstrations, hands-on science and technology activities, a science-themes obstacle course, instrument demos, and a scientist who performed a magic show with over the top science experiments. We had a great turnout and got lots of positive feedback!
Trunk or Treat
Describe Our school hosts a trunk or treat event for children in our community every fall. We choose a theme, decorate our vehicle, and plan interactive games for the kids to play. We also like to have our robot out on display. Hundreds of kids come to this event every year and they always love seeing the robot! We've used this event as a way to inspire the kids in our community to get involved in FLL. We've also used it as an opportunity to share about FIRST with parents and community members. the key features of the service and how users can benefit from it.
